A video shared on Instagram by @nickairservice earlier this month shows tourists standing around watching the bears wrestle in front of them. “Wildlife in Alaska can be pretty amazing!” the Instagram caption reads. Some tourists are seen taking pictures of the animals while slowly backing up as the bears move quickly and forcefully across the ground. Nicholas Peters, the one credited with taking the video, reportedly operates an air taxi service for bear viewing trips. “(The bears are) younger animals that are either cubs, play fighting, or a male and female play fighting/flirting,” he explained. The video has received countless comments from people on social media who are in disbelief that the tourists would stand that close to the bears. “Cubs?! No way I’d be standing so close. You’ll never outrun them, and I’m sure mama isn’t far off,” one comment on a CBS News Facebook post of the video reads. Another says, “Not the brightest tourists, are they?” One viewer even referred to the tourists in the video as the “same folks” who visit Yellowstone National Park.
