Wyoming man sentenced to life in prison after killing 3

SHERIDAN, Wyoming (AP) — A Wyoming man was sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty in February to killing three family members in March 2020, a judge said.
Judge John Fenn sentenced Dana Beartusk, 55, to three consecutive sentences of 45 years to life in prison after he was convicted of second-degree murder, The Sheridan Press reported Tuesday.
Beartusk told Fenn in February that he was intoxicated when he killed Seana Fisher, 54; Mochdaveyano “Blackhawk” Fisher, 25; and Angelina Beartusk, 51. Their bodies were found in the Beartusk’s home in Big Horn, police said.
Beartusk was arrested in Montana in March after police received a call that a man had contacted a family member and said he had killed someone. Beartusk told Fenn he didn’t remember disposing of the firearms.
Defense attorney Marty Scott argued in court that Beartusk was “blackout drunk” and does not remember what happened. He also used relatives of Beartusk to testify on his history and personality.
Beartusk told the judge on Tuesday that he doesn’t know why he committed the murders and acknowledged, “sorry doesn’t even begin to cut it.”
Fenn told Beartusk that he doesn’t think he is all bad, but that “some things cannot be changed. This is one of those. It’s not about rehabilitation or whether you’ll pose a danger to the community later, but about what was done. Some things you can’t take back.”
