Woman spends night in crashed van unable to call for help

OSGOOD — A 26-year-old woman spent a night in her wrecked vehicle unable to call for help after crashing in the Osgood area.
Around 8:40 a.m. Friday, local dispatchers received a call that a woman had crashed her car on West 145th North, according to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Lovell. When first responders arrived, they learned the woman lost control sometime during the night and crashed.
The car smashed through a wooden fence and into a tree, sending a section of fence post through the van’s windshield. Lovell said the crash trapped her and she was unable to call for help.
The National Weather Service reports temperatures in the area reached a low of eight degrees around 7 a.m. Temperatures were below freezing for most of the night, and Lindsay Towing driver Cordell Pickering, who helped clean up the crash site, said he picked up frozen bottles of juice and other items across the crash site.
Idaho Falls Fire Department spokeswoman Kerry Hammon tells EastIdahoNews.com the woman was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She had minor cuts and bruises, but was otherwise appeared unharmed, officials said.
The woman’s name has not yet been released.
