The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
Idaho State Police is investigating a collision involving a train and a pedestrian. The incident occurred Thursday at approximately 9:56 p.m., on US93 and Glenwood Street, in the city of Shoshone in Lincoln County.
A 55-year-old male from Watsonville, California, was walking his bicycle across the railroad tracks when he was struck by an oncoming train. The male was transported to a local hospital, via ground ambulance, where he is being treated for his injuries.
The oncoming train’s lights, railroad crossing lights and crossing barriers where operating properly at the time of the incident. US93 was blocked for approximately five and a half hours to allow emergency responders assist those involved and clear the scene.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Lincoln County EMS, Shoshone Fire Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
