POCATELLO — Eastern Idaho will see changes in weather conditions this weekend as advisories and storm warnings are in effect for much of the region. The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning in place until 5 a.m. Sunday for Inkom, Soda Springs, St. Charles, Downey, Bone, Wayan, Georgetown, Kilgore, Montpelier, Lava Hot Springs, Henry, Emigration Summit, McCammon, Victor, Swan Valley, Island Park, Grace and the Teton Valley. Moderate to heavy snow is expected with 5 to 10 inches expected in lower elevations and 10 to 20 inches for higher elevations. Wind gusts could be as high as 40 mph. Travel could be difficult. If you must travel, you’re urged to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. A winter weather advisory is in effect for other parts of eastern Idaho, including Idaho Falls, Richfield, Pocatello, St. Anthony, Carey, Fort Hall, Shoshone, Rexburg, American Falls, Shelley, INL, Blackfoot, Craters of the Moon and Mud Lake. Snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected with Craters of the Moon National Monument possibly receiving 3 to 6 inches. Wind gusts could reach 45 mph.
