IDAHO FALLS — Deputies are still searching for a missing Idaho Falls man last seen in Montana.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Lovell says in a news release that 32-year-old Sterling Johnson took a bus from Idaho Falls to Butte, Montana on Oct. 30. Authorities were concerned about Johnson’s welfare. Before this information surfaced, he was last seen in Idaho Falls wearing clothes that weren’t warm enough for cold weather. He was wearing only gray sweatpants and a dark-colored hoodie and he didn’t have the necessary medication for his health conditions.
Lovell says someone spotted Johnson at a rescue mission in Butte. He had a denim coat and bib overalls in his possession and had purchased a bus ticket. He apparently was planning to ride to Portland, Oregon, but travel restrictions prevented him from using it. The last time anyone saw Johnson in Montana was on Nov. 6.

Lovell said deputies are not sure if Johnson is still in Montana, found another way to get to Oregon or is traveling back to Idaho Falls.
“At this time, Mr. Johnson’s whereabouts and welfare are still unknown and deputies have distributed his information to law enforcement in the region,” Lovell said. “Johnson suffers from medical and mental health issues that require medication and it is believed he does not have the resources to maintain his normal course of treatment, putting him at serious medical-related risk.”

“We are worried sick and we miss him,” Johnson’s step-mother Christine Johnson previously said. “We just want to bring him home and get some help.”
Anyone with information on Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement immediately, Bonneville County Dispatch at (208) 529-1200, or Crimestoppers at (208) 522-1983. You can also visit the website or the P3tips app on your mobile device.
