Nickolas Arguello | Bonneville County Jail
IDAHO FALLS – A 28-year-old Idaho Falls man was arrested after officers served him with four warrants and reportedly found him with meth and fentanyl.
Nickolas Arguello was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers during an arrest or seizure.
On Feb. 7, officers from the Idaho Falls Police Department responded to an apartment in Idaho Falls to serve four Bonneville County felony warrants on Arguello.
Officers saw a white Jeep driven by a woman pull up to the apartment as they arrived. Police records say the woman got out of the car and officers walked to the apartment to talk to her.
As an officer got close to the Jeep, he “observed an occupant covered in a blanket in the driver’s seat” before hearing the driver’s door shut. The officer then began shouting commands for the man, identified as Arguello, to exit the car.
Arguello reportedly refused to leave the car and “appeared to be trying to start the Jeep, but he was not in possession of the keys,” according to court documents.
The officer opened the door and ordered Arguello to get out of the car, but he again refused. At this point, court documents say the officer “grabbed Arguello” and he began reaching behind him.
The officer ordered Arguello to stop reaching, and a “physical struggle” began.
A K-9 partner was then utilized, and Arguello was detained.
During a search of Arguello, officers reportedly found a “small baggie of methamphetamine,” 24 fentanyl pills, commonly known as “dirty thirty’s,” and small tin foil squares reportedly used for smoking fentanyl.
Officers transported Arguello to the Bonneville County Jail, where his bond was set to $125,000.
Arguello is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 22. If convicted, he could face up to 32 years in prison.
