FORT HALL — Officers arrested two people Wednesday after a police chase that began in Fort Hall and ended in Pocatello.
Fort Hall Police were called around 4:30 p.m. about an unknown disturbance allegedly caused by Thurston Redwoman, according to a Shoshone-Bannock Tribes news release. Redwoman left the house where the disturbance occurred in a red KIA before police could arrive.
Officers spotted Redwoman in the car driving on U.S. Highway 91 and Burns Road on the Fort Hall Reservation.
“Our officers conducted a traffic stop,” Fort Hall Police Chief Pat Teton said in the news release.”Initially, Redwoman pulled over, (but) when he was asked to step out of the vehicle (he) put the vehicle in drive and took off leading officers on a pursuit.”
As police gave chase, Fort Hall Police used spikes strips on the highway just south of Burns Road. However, the strips did not stop Redwoman. He continued driving erratically on the highway towards Pocatello.
As they were driving south, a woman in the vehicle, Larissa Eschief, reportedly threw items out of the window. A coat that held drug paraphernalia was determined to be one of the items thrown from the car.
The chase continued with Redwoman turning east on Chubbuck Road and eventually stopping at Pocatello Creek Road and Booth Drive in Pocatello.
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes reports Redwoman was taken into custody for domestic violence, violation of a protection order, driving under the influence, eluding, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Eschief was arrested for obstruction and being intoxicated. It’s not clear what charges are felonies and which were misdemeanors. Court records on the case have yet to be filed.
“Thankfully, there was no injuries to the community, our officers or the suspects,” Teton said.
