Jason Ryan Burgess | Bonneville County Jail IDAHO FALLS — A grand jury has indicted a 30-year-old man who is accused of rape and lewd conduct with a now 10-year-old girl between 2018 through 2023. Jason Ryan Burgess of Idaho Falls was charged with the two felonies on May 22. If convicted, he faces a minimum of one year to life in prison. Burgess’s bond was set at $250,000, which he posted on May 25 and was released. RELATED | Grand jury vs. trial jury. What’s the difference? An order to seal court documents was made on Tuesday, meaning no other information is being made public. According to the amended order, the indictment was sealed to protect the “grand foreperson and the minor victim.” The complaint states that Burgess allegedly committed the two felonies between March 22, 2018, and April 28, 2023. The victim, who is currently 10 years old, would have been 2 or 3 years old in 2018 when the alleged crimes started occurring. Burgess is scheduled to appear before District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. for his arraignment at 8:15 a.m. on June 2. Though Burgess has been charged with these crimes, this does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The post Local man charged with rape and lewd conduct with young girl appeared first on East Idaho News.
