BLACKFOOT — Two people have been hospitalized, and an unknown number of dogs are dead following a crash involving a vehicle transporting canines.
Idaho State Police dispatchers tell EastIdahoNews.com the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. near milepost 105, a few miles north of exit 98, on Interstate 15 near Shelley.
Details of the crash have not been released, however, Idaho Falls Fire Department spokeswoman Kerry Hammon confirmed ambulances transported two people to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The condition and identity of those individuals has not been released.
ISP dispatchers say more details will be released later today.
A post on the Idaho Rescue, Shelter and Transport Facebook page, claims the vehicle was transporting around 30 dogs to Canada when it crashed.
Bingham County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jeff Gardner confirmed multiple dogs were dead and that the sheriff’s office and Bingham County Animal Control are working to round up the other dogs that escaped when the vehicle crashed.
