Adobe Stock image BINGHAM COUNTY – Officials have released the name of a man who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds along Interstate 15 earlier this month. Bingham County Coroner Jimmy Roberts confirms the deceased is Alexander Jose Duran Pirela, 27, from Mapleton, Utah. RELATED | Troopers investigate homicide on I-15 According to a news release from Roberts, the cause of Duran Pirela’s death was a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds. EastIdahoNews.com reached out to the Idaho State Police District 5, which is handling the investigation. ISP Lt. Todd Orr tells EastIdahoNews.com that the investigation is ongoing, and no new information is being released at this time. Background According to an ISP news release, Duran Pierla’s body was discovered at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Troopers were reportedly traveling northbound on I-15 near milepost 85 when they saw a white 2008 Toyota Camry stopped on the outside shoulder with its hazard lights activated. The troopers stopped to assist and found the driver deceased from a gunshot wound. Detectives are still taking tips from the public. Anyone who drove past the Camry, saw any vehicles stopped nearby or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on Feb. 28, is asked to contact ISP District 5 Investigations at (208) 239-9850.
