REXBURG — Christmas at Hemming Village has been canceled for 2020.
The event is usually the first Saturday of December (Dec. 5 this year) and attracts a big turnout as it involves Santa, the Grinch, and multiple vendors. Due to the regular popularity of the event, the family said they do not feel like proper social distancing can be maintained.
“It stinks, but we feel like it’s the right thing to do,” CJ Krainock, CEO of Incline Marketing and representative of Hemming Village, told EastIdahoNews.com.
The Hemming family has hosted large Christmas and Halloween events in Rexburg for years. They have hosted 3,000 to 4,000 people in a single day.
In October, the family officially decided to cancel the “Hocus Pocus at Hemming Village” Halloween event. It was the first time they had not held the event in 11 years.
Canceling these events was not easy decision, Krainock said.
“The Hemming Village family is deeply saddened to cancel Christmas at Hemming Village this year,” Krainock said. “We look forward to coming back even better next year and seeing all of your bright and happy faces.”
