IDAHO FALLS — Alturas International Academy is canceling classes due to illness and a high number of absences.
In a letter sent to parents, administrators announced school will not be held until Wednesday, Jan. 26.
“Due to the recent surge of illness and excessive absences among our staff and students, we will be closing the school starting tomorrow,” the letter says. “We will be evaluating the situation on Monday and Tuesday and will inform families Tuesday evening if we are unable to reopen on Wednesday. We are hopeful that these days will provide faculty and families the opportunity to regain their health and return to school.”
Other schools in eastern Idaho have canceled classes due to COVID-19. Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy in Fort Hall is closed until Monday and last week, Bonneville Joint School District 93, Madison School District 321 and Jefferson School District 251 canceled classes Friday because of staff shortages.
