Woman accused of trafficking meth, trying to sneak it into jail

Jamie Lynn Lariviere | Bonneville County Jail IDAHO FALLS — A 45-year-old woman is facing various charges after police say she was trafficking methamphetamine and tried to sneak it into the jail in her bra and pants. Jamie Lynn Lariviere is charged with drug trafficking methamphetamine and introducing major contraband into a correctional facility, both felonies, and unlawfully possessing contraband into a correctional facility and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. During a hearing on Thursday, Lariviere pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charges but did not plead to the felonies. According to court documents, an Idaho State Police trooper stopped a white Chevrolet Silverado around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 on U.S. Highway 26 near the intersection of 75th East. The trooper pulled her over due to an ISP investigator alerting them that the driver, identified as Lariviere, was reportedly “involved in the transportation of drugs and was the subject of a drug investigation.” Police found no contraband on Lariviere and, with the help of a Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputy and K9 officer, began to search the truck. The K9 officer reportedly alerted to the presence of drugs in the truck, and officers allegedly found a grocery bag containing a Ziploc bag holding suspected methamphetamine. Officers also seized two Samsung phones and a digital voice recorder. Lariviere was then arrested and transported to the Bonneville County Jail. When asked if she had anything illegal on her, she denied it. During a search, deputies allegedly found a glass meth pipe wrapped in a thick layer of paper towels inside Lariviere’s bra. Lariviere was again asked if she had anything illegal in her possession, and she denied it. Officers then escorted Lariviere into another room for a strip search. During the search, a deputy states that a Ziploc bag of suspected meth fell out of Lariviere’s pants as she was taking them off. Lariviere reportedly stated there was “no benefit to being honest” with the deputies. After weighing and testing the substances, officers say there was a total of 116.35 grams of methamphetamine. She was then booked into the jail on a $50,000 bond. She is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 5. If convicted, Lariviere could face up to 17 years in prison. Though Lariviere has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean she committed them.
