IDAHO FALLS — Cold weather and snow are expected in significant parts of eastern Idaho on Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service reports a strong low-pressure system and a cold front is forecast to move from west to east across central and eastern Idaho starting late Saturday until late Sunday, according to the most recent weather data.
Snow showers are expected mostly at higher elevations, with rain in the valleys. However, even low-lying areas may see some snow on Saturday night and early Sunday morning. The most snow is predicted in the central Idaho mountains and in the high elevation areas along the Idaho/Montana border.
Snowfall amounts remain highly uncertain at this time, local meteorologists said in a news release.
Temperatures will drop to near or below freezing throughout eastern Idaho on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
