Manager of local restoration company recognized as one of industry’s top 5 emerging leaders nationwide

The 32-year-old Idaho Falls man returned from a trip to Florida last week, where he was recognized as one of five emerging leaders in the restoration industry nationwide. The Restoration Industry Association sponsored the event. The Emerging Leaders in Restoration Award is all about highlighting the next generation of leaders in restoration who are already transforming the industry, according to C&R Magazine, who hosted the award convention. Recipients were awarded based on the number of nominations they received. Judy tells EastIdahoNews.com there were more than 100 nominees for the award. A panel of judges selected the top 5 candidates, who were awarded during a ceremony on April 29. Judy has no idea who nominated him or how many nominations he received, but he’s honored others felt he was worthy to receive this award. “It’s pretty humbling, considering the amount of people (in attendance). There were over 2,000 people there,” Judy says. “Some of the other people who were recognized have really big operations with 400 or 500 employees. We’re just a small Idaho company with 30 people but it’s fun to see some of the stuff we do get recognized.” Nate Judy, third from left, on stage with the rest of the award recipients. | Courtesy Nate Judy Judy is the general manager at Tobin Restoration, a company that restores homes impacted by fire or flood damage. He grew up working in the family-owned business. Judy’s dad, Rhett, bought it from the original owner, Hal Tobin, in 2007. Judy, his brother, Blake, along with their brother-in-law, are now part-owners of the company and enjoy running it together. The people the business attracts is what Judy finds most rewarding about his association with Tobin Restoration. “It’s hard work and so it brings in really determined, disciplined people. I surround myself with people who make it fun and make me better,” he says. “Together, we build something that’s worth recognizing.” Going forward, Judy aims to have the best restoration company in the area. He’s looking to expand the brand outside of Idaho Falls and into other communities, including western Wyoming and parts of Montana. “We’re just getting plans put together on what that looks like,” says Judy. “We want to attract good people and create a place where they want to work and help people along the way. Wherever opportunity shows up, that’s where we’re going to go.” Most of the award recipients were from company’s back east. Roman Renderfrance with France & Co in Washington was the only other candidate from the Pacific Northwest.
