Cristian Angel Tinoco | Bonneville County Jail IDAHO FALLS – A 31-year-old Idaho Falls man who pleaded guilty to 20 counts of child porn charges was sentenced Monday. Cristian Angel Tinoco accepted a plea agreement in September where he pleaded guilty to his original charges of 10 counts of possession and 10 counts of distribution of the explicit materials. The agreement was binding on the court, meaning that if the court did not follow the recommendations, Tinoco had a right to withdraw his plea. Senior Judge Stephen Dunn sentenced the man on Monday to three years fixed and 13 years indeterminate. Court records did not state if Tinoco must register as a sex offender. Still, according to Idaho Law 18-8304, anybody convicted of these crimes must register as a sex offender after they are released. According to the affidavit, on Jan. 17, 2024, a detective with the Idaho Falls Police Department was assigned to investigate the 31-year-old. This investigation stemmed from a cybertip submitted on Dec. 11, 2023. The tip regarded child pornography being uploaded to the social media application Kik from an IP address in Idaho Falls. According to the affidavit, a warrant was obtained in March 2024 for the Kik account, which contained a zip file containing 116 videos, where 88 of them had explicit materials. Seven of the videos were involved in the cybertip. Surveillance was conducted on the location of the IP address where detectives learned where Tinoco lived and what vehicle he drove. A search warrant was obtained on June 27 and executed by the Idaho Attorney General’s office and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies. Police stopped Tinoco as he was leaving his home, and detectives seized his cell phone, and he was interviewed. He refused to answer questions without a lawyer present. A search of the 31-year-old’s phone resulted in detectives finding graphic and disturbing messages involving child porn between Tinoco and others. These messages involved the man talking with other Kik users about their preferences in explicit materials. The affidavit states the man shared videos of newborns and children up to 8 years of age being raped, tortured and forced to engage in sex acts with animals.
