Idaho Falls man charged with alleged possession of child pornography

Daniel Eric Maras | Bonneville County Jail IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man was charged with allegedly having child pornography after a cybertip led police to detain him at his home. Daniel Eric Maras, 30, was charged with two counts of felony possession of child pornography. According to court documents, police found over a thousand pornographic images on Maras’ personal devices and accounts. The documents state that the pictures depicted children and adults, with the children ranging from ages 6 to 15. On May 21, 2024, X Corp submitted a cybertip regarding user “Graceland 21” to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. On January 3, 2025, the cybertip was provided to an agent with the Idaho Office of the Attorney General for investigation. On April 1, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office followed Maras to his residence after locating his vehicle parked outside of his place of work. On April 9, the ICAC Task Force, along with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police, and Homeland Security, executed a search warrant of Maras’ home and devices. He was detained for further questioning. Court documents state Maras admitted to owning a Graceland 21 email account and stated he had made up the name. Maras admitted to having a pornography problem but claimed that his addiction led him down a “rabbit hole” into viewing “forbidden” things. Maras also admitted to using the X account, looking at images of child pornography, and being the owner of the pictures found on his personal devices. According to information provided to law enforcement, Maras was previously arrested for molesting relatives in 2010. He was put into the juvenile detention facility in Idaho Falls. For the latest crime, Maras could face up to 20 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. Maras will have a pretrial conference on June 10 at 1 p.m. before Magistrate Judge Jason D. Walker. Though Maras has been charged with these crimes, this does not necessarily mean he committed them.
