The Spud Kings, who beat the reigning champion South Shore Kings, Monday, to claim their first Dineen Cup title, are expected to arrive at the Mountain America Center at 6 p.m. In a Facebook post from the MAC, Spud Kings fans — the “Spud Kingdom,” as they’re known — are invited to join the free celebratory event. “Cancel all existing plans and join us,” the post reads in part. … “Let’s give this team the royal treatment they deserve.” The homecoming celebration is set to take place at the Teton Auto Group Plaza at the MAC, with food trucks, a DJ and beer garden. RELATED | Spud Kings take early lead then hold off South Shore to win the Dineen Cup title In its third season of existence, the Spud Kings claimed a regular season Mountain Division crown with a 38-10-4 record (81 points). They went on to beat the Pueblo Bulls and Ogden Mustangs in the Mountain Division playoffs, and claim a spot in the Dineen Cup Championship Series. Wins over South Shore and the Mercer Chiefs set the stage for a rematch with the team which finished the regular season with the league’s best record. But the Spud Kings again prevailed, beating South Shore 2-1. Now, all that is left is for the players and organization to celebrate with a fanbase widely known as the best in the league. The post Celebration scheduled for Kings’ return appeared first on East Idaho News.
