Blooming together: Pocatello couple turns passion for flowers into a new floral business

Bret and Rylie Kindall work as a team to create stunning floral arrangements for all occasions. | Courtesy Rylie Kindall POCATELLO – With the launch of their new business, BR Floral Events, husband-and-wife duo Bret and Rylie Kindall are bringing fresh flower arrangements with a personal touch to east Idaho. Bret, hailing from the small town of Cambridge, Idaho, and Rylie, a Boise native, met and fell in love while attending college at the University of Idaho. It didn’t take long for them to realize that a shared passion for flowers matched their love for each other. Bret learned early on that he loved flowers and had a sharp eye for design. While taking floral design classes in high school, his excellence in floral design earned him first place in individual and team competitions. Rylie developed her skills and discovered her own unique touch while working at Shore Lodge in McCall during the summers of her college years. There, she managed high-end events such as weddings, business meetings, and milestone events. This job gave Rylie valuable insight into how flowers enhance special events while teaching her customer service and management skills. “(Rylie and I) did a lot of flower arranging for our family and friends’ weddings and different events while we were in college,” said Bret. “Our skills complemented each other. We found this was something we enjoyed doing together.” Brett Kindall has a longtime talent for floral design. | Courtesy Rylie Kindall The couple married in 2020 and moved to east Idaho when Bret accepted the position of Agricultural Science Educator and FFA advisor at American Falls High School. Bret’s classes include teaching floral design and plant science. Under Bret’s direction, his FFA and floral design teams have won various state and national competitions. “Since getting married, we’ve dreamed about starting our own floral business, and we finally decided to ‘just do it,’ ” said Rylie. “After creating a business plan, we started the new year by launching our business on Jan. 1st.” BR Floral Events specializes in stunning flower arrangements for major life events such as weddings, funerals, baby showers, and simple everyday celebrations and bouquets with delivery in Pocatello and the surrounding areas. While BR Floral will purchase cut flowers from Ensign Wholesale Floral in Salt Lake City, they will also use locally grown flowers. “We’ll use fresh seasonal flowers from ‘you pick’ gardens in Pocatello and Blackfoot, as well as the flowers my students grow in the greenhouse,” said Bret. “We’ll use local flowers as much as possible.” “Flowers always have emotions attached to them. Mostly happy,” added Rylie. “We want our floral designs to make your special day memorable by exceeding your expectations.” “We offer a bouquet of the month and holiday-themed bouquets delivered right to your door.” We just posted our Valentine’s Day special on Facebook,” she added. The deadline for Valentine’s Day orders is February 10. The Kindalls are excited to see how their new business grows and are grateful to everyone who has been a part of their “blooming story.” As this is a home-based business, there isn’t currently a store front for customers to purchase flowers, although the couple hopes to have one in the future.
