MENAN — A failed culvert in Menan that forced a road to close earlier this week is undergoing repairs sooner rather than later.
600 North between 3565 East and 3600 East in Menan closed on Monday, due to unsafe conditions. The failed culvert was considered an “active collapse” and normally handles water.

Originally, crews thought the failed culvert would be replaced in the fall and the road would remain closed until then, however, repairs have already begun.
A 52-inch plastic pipe will replace the old rusted culvert, according to Jefferson County Emergency Management Coordinator Rebecca Squires.
“We are drilling holes today (Thursday). Then it’s just a matter of laying the pipe,” she said.
Squires added they hope to open the road sometime later next week.
