At 9:12 a.m., emergency units responded to the 1000 block of East Amity Avenue to find a car with three adults on top of a house, the Nampa Police Department said in a news release. While the investigation remains ongoing, police said preliminary evidence indicated that the vehicle was heading west on East Amity Avenue at a “high rate of speed” when it “failed to navigate a curve” at South Diamond Street. The car hit a berm in a private yard and went airborne, striking the chimney of one home before landing on the roof of a second home, according to police. Police suspect the vehicle failed to navigate a turn in the roadway. | Courtesy Dan Leavitt via Idaho Statesman Officials pronounced the man riding in the front passenger seat dead at the scene. Paramedics took the driver and the back seat passenger to Boise-area hospitals to be treated for injuries. Police said no one was inside either home at the time, but the houses sustained “extensive damage.” No other vehicles were involved.
