IDAHO FALLS — After two years of limited festivities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 10th annual Idaho Falls Pride celebration is back in full swing.
“We are really excited! We are happy to be back in person,” said Kelly McCary, development director for Idaho Falls Pride.
McCary said in 2020, Idaho Falls Pride did a full virtual pride event. Last year, the organization could not have a full in-person festival because of how things were changing with the pandemic but McCary said they were able to have pride night with the Chukars.
“We think that now more than ever, it’s really important to have an in-person event where people can feel community and feel safe,” said McCary.
This year, Idaho Falls Pride will kick off Friday, June 24, with Chukars Pride Night. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the baseball game starts at 7 p.m. at Melaleuca Field.
“If you bring a food item to donate to the Community Food Basket, a non-perishable food item, we will give you a voucher for a free hot dog and drink at the game,” said McCary.
On Saturday, there will be a parade that starts at 10 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Anyone is welcome to join in walking in the parade. The lineup starts at 9 a.m.
There will be a festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Greenbelt Riverwalk. There will be live music, interactive performances, goodies for purchase and more. McCary explained Idaho Falls Pride typically brings anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 people throughout the day.
“I think my favorite thing about Idaho Falls Pride is getting to see all the people in my community who support and love each other exactly how they are and all of the acceptance that truly is here that you may not see day to day but you really do see it at pride,” McCary said.
The pride festivities end for the day with a popular drag show called “Loud & Proud” that’s already sold out at the Westbank Convention Center at 8 p.m.

McCary encourages anyone to come out to Idaho Falls Pride to see what it’s all about and meet new people.
“Everyone is welcome, no matter how you identify or who you are. We are just about accepting everyone who feels like they want to be a part of a community,” she said.
